Four men of Kwatha village in Chandel district were injured when a large number of villagers of Leibi Khun attacked the villagers of Kwatha when they were returning from inspection visit for demarcation of village boundary along with ADC Moreh and police personnel of Moreh Police Station yesterday.
The four injured villagers are A Budhi (51), Kh Doren (45), Ksh Kesho (40) and L Kokngang (40) .
A team of ADC Moreh, police personnel and some villagers of Kwatha went to inspect the disputed area and demarcate the boundary between Kwatha village and Leibi village.
But as there was no representative of Leibi village, the land demarcation could not be carried out.
However, after the Kwatha villagers pointed out the land that belonged to Kwatha village, the team returned.
But on the way, a large number of Leibi village armed with deadly weapons was waiting for them, and attack the Kwatha villagers right in front of the police personnel including Addl SP, Y Ashokkumar, SDPO, M Rameshwar, OC Moreh, O Doren.
SDC Moreh Ph Ibohal was also present when the attack came.
Today a group of women of Kwatha village came to Moreh Police Station where they demanded action against those attackers.
However, police sentries at the gate refused to allow them to meet the OC, and a scuffle ensued.
Finally some women representatives were allowed to meet the OC, who assured them that the police would do what they ought to do.
It may be recalled here that villagers of Leibi village have been allegedly occupying a vast cultivable area on the hills that belonged to Kwatha.
Leibi villagers claimed that the area belongs to their village.
