Troops of Assam Rifles conducted a raid at the official quarter of Tousem SDO Dinganglui in Tamenglong district on the night of November 9 last.
The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur is quering whether AFSPA permits security forces to conduct a raid at a magistrate's house without prior permission.
ZSUM, (Tousem area), in a statement, informed that troops of 11 Assam Rifles posted in Tamenglong district had conducted the raid at the official quarter of the Tousem SDO whose wife is also an officer in the district treasury office.
Apart of conducting a search in the house, they also harassed family members, the statement alleged that the act has negated the claim of the AR that they are the friends of the hill people.
The incident showed that they are sending false messages only to lure the people to their side.
At the time of the raid, the SDO and his wife were not in the quarter.
The troops conducted a room to room search scattering household items, ZSUM charged alleging the Assam Rifles of wanton acts without any respect of the status of the two government officers.
ASUM (Tousem) area also asked whether Armed Forces (Special) Power Act, 1958 gives powers to the security force to conduct raid at the house of a magistrate at any time.
They also paid the AR has disturbed the peaceful atmosphere in Tamenglong district.
Earlier the, AR had also detained the ZSUM convener for several hours on May 15 this year and had destroyed the padlock of the Harman Fellowship Church and conducted a search which is tantamount to the violation of the freedom of religion.
They also asked the people to be beware of security force personnel breaking the peace and tranquility and depriving democratic rights to the people in the district.
