Reacting to the statement of singer Tapta Jayanta published in this newspaper today that the localities of Keinou beat him severely; the people of Keinou, Bishnupr district banned the singer for lifetime at Keinou area.
The above statement was made by the President, Lainingthou Lam Ahingba Thougal kanglup, Keinou, W Bhumeshwor in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today.
He said that they were in an agreement to organize a musical concert on March 27 last in relation with the worshipping of Lainingthou Lam Ahingba.
The organization also organized a prize distribution ceremony for the students of Keinou area who have passed the HSLC exam in first division.
The concert was scheduled to start at 4 pm sharp after the conclusion of the prize distribution ceremony.
But Tapta did not arrive at the venue by the scheduled time.
They enquired the matter when he did not come until 7 pm they came to know that he was in a house at Keinou Thongkha.
When they went to the house, they found Tapta drinking wine there.
Bhumeshwor further said that they cancelled the concert as they did not find it wise to organize the concert.
Tapta apologized to the public about his behavior and gave them a sum of Rs 5,000 as compensation.
He also requested to allow him to pay the amount he took from the organizer on March 29 and asked them to keep the 12 sound boxes with the owner as security.
Nobody beat him that day.
Later he send police commandos to recover the sound boxes.
After filing a case at Bishnupur district, Tapta accepted to repay the amount took by him for the concert, to apologise in front of media about his misbehave and both side resolved to withdraw the case voluntarily.
Keeping in view of his loose character they are taking the decision to ban him at Keinou area.
If he still refused to act according to the agreement, they will take up further steps to ban him in the whole state with many civil society organizations, Bhumeshwor added.
