The Assam Rifles footed medical bills and bore other expenses of family members in the surgical operation of one WL Thumwarhring s/o WL Ephraim, said a PRO IGAR (S)
release.
On detection by a team of doctors of the 20 AR at a medical camp organised under the aegis of 26 Sector at Larong in February this year of Thumwarhring suffering from right side indirect non-obstructed hernia, the boy was taken to RIMS Hospital on march 24 for further diagnosis and was subsequently operated.
The battalion took upon itself to ensure that the operation for Thumwarhring was successful and all expenses for the operation and medicines amounting to Rs 10,000 were paid by the battalion, the PRO informed.
The expenses borne by the AR unit also included that of the patient's mother and brother, the PRO said while conveying of Thumwarhring having been discharged from RIMS and currently put under observation and care at the unit hospital from where he will be discharged after three days.
