DESAM today said that its volunteers beaten up MUSU president for making statements which amount to tarnish the students body's image and against his high-headedness attitude towards its leaders.
It's not an attempt on his life but to teach lesson to rectify his behavour.
The matter should not be made an issue in the coming elections to the Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) to cause violence.
If happen to do so, DESAM may be compelled to think of more severe action against him, the student warned.
Making the above statement, DESAM general secretary Yumnam Ratankumar in a press conference held at its office today alleged that the incident of that day was occurred because of uncivilized attitude of the MUSU president Ksh Narayan.
In one of statements issued on November 2 last year, Narayan tried to relate the charge level against sake out DESAM's former president Ashirjit Luwang of using fake certificate with DESAM even though the body had already suspended him even from the primary membership, the general secretary alleged.
The act of Narayan is amount to hurt the image of DESAM.
That was why he has been advised by way of beating not to indulge in such act which will defame a students body, he added.
Even though it was not true, Narayan wrongly charge its volunteers of attempting to attack with a ta (a sharp weapon) keeping inside his office.
Actually, the other student who was found in his office, Milan took the ta and attempted to attack with it to the DESAM volunteers and he sustained injuries during the course of struggle to snatch the weapon from him, DESAM general secretary Y Ratankumar clarified.
If there was an intention to kill among the volunteers of DESAM then Narayan could have been killed without much struggle, he observed asking not to make wrong statement to lead the people in wrong way.
The real happening would be known to those who witness the incident, he added.
Reiterating that Narayan is trying to defame DESAM by relating the body with a person who had no link with the body in any way, Rantankumar said, some vested interested people are behind it.
DESAM advisor who also present at the press conference demanded clarification on the untrue allegation made against the DESAM volunteers from Narayan side.
If he failed to do so, he hard action will be taken up, he added.
He also said that all the 11 volunteers of DESAM took part in the taking up action against MUSU president Narayan has been declared as "hero".
He also informed that out of the 11 volunteer picked up by the police in connection with the case including its president LC Santosh and education secretary A Thoithoi were still in the police custody except one.
They should be released without any condition, he demanded.
