EVM randomization today, media centre opens in Ukhrul

Hectic election preparation is underway in Ukhrul with two returning officers for Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat arriving on Saturday for the first round of EVM randomization.
Talking to the newsmen on Friday afternoon, District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Dr.Shailesh Kumar Chourasia said that the first round of EVM randomization would be started on Saturday with the arrival of two returning officers for Outer Manipur seat.
He stated that EVMs check has been over while trainings for officers on poll duty are still underway.
Informing that there are 193 polling stations in the three Assembly constituencies of Ukhrul, the DC said the district has a total of 98507 voters as per the latest electoral revision and 97879 voters with EPIC.
Of the 193 polling stations in the district, there are 70 stations in 43-Phungyar AC, 61 in 44-Ukhrul and 61 in 45- Chingai ACs.
On a query on security arrangements, the District Returning Officer said that preparation on this front is yet to be finalized while the polling stations have been categorized as normal, sensitive and hypersensitive.
Meanwhile, a media centre has been opened at mini secretariat this afternoon after members of the Ukhrul District Journalist Association (UDJA) met and apprised the ADC Diphu Gangmei, who is also the chairman of the District Media Certification and Monitoring Cell (MCMC).
