UGs held, huge cache of arms seized

Imphal, March 28, 2014:
With the State Police and other security forces stepping counter insurgency operations in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha election, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were discovered today at Khoidumpat under Kakching police station.
Acting on information about presence of a UG hideout at Khoidumpat area, a combined team of 22 AR and Thoubal commandos conducted a search operation and busted a hideout discovered in the vicinity of Thoubal Khong, Khoidum Pat under Wabagai Tera Pishak.
One lathode gun (M-79), one AK 56 rifle, one M-16 rifle, 35 live rounds of AK ammunition, 12 live rounds of M-16 ammunition, 107 live rounds and 13 fired cases of 7.62 SLR (G-3) ammunition, two AK magazines, one M-16 rifle magazine, nine explosives weighing 50 gms each, 83 detonators, four electronic detonators, 46 gelatin sticks weighing 125 gms each and two safety cords measuring three metres each and one radio set were seized from the busted hideout.
Earlier on March 26, Imphal West district police conducted a search operation at Sagolband Thangjam Leirak and apprehended one KYKL cadre from his house.
The cadre has been identified as Thangjam Basanta alias Abu (46) s/o late Th Shyamkishore of Sagolband Thangjam Leirak.
Five mobile handsets were seized from his possession.

In follow up action, another active cadre of KYKL identified as Haobam Sunil alias Boy (52) s/o late H Ibochou of Chingamathak Nameirakpam Leikai was arrested from his residence on the same day.
One 9 mm pistol along with one magazine and 12 live rounds were seized from him, according to a release issued by Manipur Police PRO S Gautam.
another cadre of the same outfit identified as Tongbram Geetkumar alias Bablu (44) s/o T Gouramani Singh of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai was arrested from his home on the same day.
On the other hand, police teams of NAB-PS acting under the supervision of NAB/SP detected and seized from 200 Kgs of contraband ganja from an auto-rickshaw at Yaingangpokpi Bazar yesterday.
Two persons namely Chandam Amarjeet alias Ten (30) s/o Ch Manimohan of Saijang Makha Leikai and Regent Tangkhul alias Rajen (52) s/o late Akhap Tangkhul of Tuinem village, Ukhrul district who were transporting the contraband item were arrested.
