Imphal, January 14 2010:
The All Manpur Schools Student's Transporter Association (AMSSTA), has decided to stick to its stand on the matter of transportation fee and has appealed to all concerned not to interfere in this matter.
In a press release issued today, the association stated that the decision to charge 50% of transportation fee till November for all those schools under the Manipur Board and till December for all those schools under CBSE was taken after due deliberations and that the association will stick to it at all cost.
The release stated that school transporters are engaged on contract for a session and not on a day to day basis, because of which children are transported to their school without fail no matter what, even when one is not well or one has some personal engagements.
All the organizations and bodies who were leading the agitation in the aftermath of the July 23 incident have come to some sort an agreement with the government.
And it would not be right if school transporters and their families have to bear the brunt of it all in the end, continued the release.
Appealing to all concern not to interfere with students and anything related to them in future agitation, the release in the end, warned of a possibility of cease work by transporters in the event of any interference with the associations' decision.
