Imphal, January 14 2010:
While appealing to all concerned for safe and sound release of Moreh Ward No 1 resident Nengsuanmang, the hill Tribal Council (HTC) has forewarned that any undesired consequences arising out of the issue should not be blamed on the Council.
In a statement issued today, HTC conveyed mental trauma and suffering of the family members as whereabouts of Nengsuanmang remains unknown till date since his disappearance on November 10, 2009 .
Expressing strong resentment that repeated appeals to both the State authorities and NGOs to trace and secure release of the individual has failed to evoke positive response, HTC cautioned that after lapse of the January 19 midnight deadline for his release, escalation of tension and the situation going out of hand cannot be ruled out.
Pledging that the Council on its part would not relent in searching Nengsuanmang, it also conceded that in case any organisation is involved in the possible abduction of the Moreh resident atleast the mortal remains should be made accessible to the family so as to conduct the customary rites.
