Imphal, May 10 2009:
President of the All Manipur United Clubs Organization (AMUCO) Yangsoshang Koireng expressed that time is ripe for the state government to have a definite accidental policy to assist the victims of such road mishaps considering the frequency of road mishaps due to the bad conditions of roads in the state when he was visiting the victims of the Tamenglong road mishaps at RIMS today.
He further said that the state government seldom checks whether the number of passenger loads is matching with the passenger vehicles traveling in the state.
All related departments should regularly check transportation of passengers over the seat capacity and determination of speed according to the condition of roads.
The passengers should also develop a habit of traveling within the seat capacity of the vehicle and should readily wait for another vehicle or delay a little if one is out of the seat capacity.
He said that today's visit at RIMS was a part of the campaign of UNIDEP (Unity, Development and Peace) launched by AMUCO from time to time under the theme of participation in sorrowful as well as happy moments of the aboriginal people of the state.
AMUCO had also donated Rs 25, 000 to the help line conducted by the Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) and Zeliangrong Union (ZU) at RIMS campus for the cause of the treatment of the Tamenglong accident victims.
While receiving the donation, Secretary of ZU, Dr Xavier expressed gratefulness to AMUCO and AMESCO for extending affordable and valuable help to the Tamenglong accident victims non-considering the communal differences.
He also thanked the media persons for their true and valuable efforts.
AMUCO appealed to the people of the state to live together by sharing the sorrow as well as the happy moments, protect the state together and help each other in time of need.
