5 Assam Rifles organised an interaction programme with leaders of meira paibis at its headquarters at Kadamtala, Jiribam.
Members of Jiri Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) and Apunba Jiri Meira Paibi (AJMP) took part in the programme, which was also taken part by media persons.
Meira Paibi leaders pleaded the 5 AR to issue arrest memo while conducting counter insurgency operations during the interaction.
5 AR Commandant Colonel Polash Choudhury said that people welfare projects amounting to Rs 50 lakh will be executed in Jiribam and its adjoining areas under military civic action programme.
He also assured that necessary actions will be taken up to solve the drinking water problems being faced in the area.
Saying that Jiri Police is similar to cops of Hindi movies, the Colonel alleged that they remained unalert even though AR gave prior information regarding any arrest.
He further exhorted the meira paibis to strive for unity between security forces and the public so as to bring positive changes in the society.
