Two killed, six injured in road mishaps

Imphal, January 15 2013:
At least two persons were killed and six others injured in two separate road accidents which occurred in the last two days in Thoubal District.
A 74-year old man was killed and five others sustained injuries when a Hyundai Car rammed into a Bus Waiting Shed at Yairipok Siphai Leikai under Yairipok Police Station at around 4 pm today.
The victim who died at the spot has been identified as Laishram Damudor (74) of Yairipok Siphai Leikai.
The injured victims are Khundongbam Mukta (74), Laishram Shamu (82), Sougrakpam Mangal (76), Laishram Somorjit (32) son of Yaima and Sougrakpam Nongamba (19) son of Rajdhon, all from Yairipok Siphai Leikai.
The three elders have been rushed to Shija Hospital while the two youths admitted to Yairipok Community Health Centre.
The man who was driving the car has been identified as Md Juman Khan(23) son of Nasid Ali of the same locality.
After the incident, he surrendered to Yairipok Police.
On the other hand, a 54-year old man who was riding a Honda Activa lost his life while his companion escaped with injuries when a diesel autorikshaw hit them at Wangjing Uningkhong area at around 3 pm yesterday.
The man who lost his life and was driving the Activa when the unfortunate incient took place was identified as Mayengbam Shamu (54) son of Ibobi of Khongjom Sapam Mayai Leikai.
The injured companion has ben identified as Mayengbam Iboyaima (54) from the same locality.
He is undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital.
