The seven day long North East Adventure Sports and Youth Festival kicked off here today at Indoor Stadium Khuman Lampak.
The festival was jointly organized by the National Yuva Kendra, Imphal, Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association and CRPF, IG Imphal Range under the civic action programme of CRPF.
The inaugural function of the festival with the objective of strengthening national integration was attended by DIG, MS Raghav, IG, CRPF Imphal Range as chief guest.
The function presided over by MMTA president, Dr L Surjit was also attended by Zonal director of National Yuva Kendra, Imphal Zone and former president of the MMTA, N Ibungochoubi as guest of honours.
The festival will continue till November 13.The main feature of the festival will be exhibition of arts and culture, adventure sports, eco-tourism, paragliding, parasailing, folk dance, music, national integration based events.
Holding of a one-day free medical and social service in Imphal area will also be part of the festival, according to organizers.
Delivering his speech as chief guest of the function, DIG, MS Raghav, it is not only education that imparts knowledge to the children.
They should earned knowledge from other activities outside the curriculum of education.
Children participating in the festival when interacted among them and join together in other activities will help a lot in building up national integration, he added.
He further advised the children not to remain confined only in their community and should try to adapt in other communities, they are not belongs to.
Due to the prolong insurgency movement, the north eastern part of the country could not developed same like other parts of the country.
People of the region fade up with the insurgency.
They no more supported the insurgents.
Since the end of the insurgent movement, Mizoram becomes the most peaceful state of the country, he observed.
