Consumption of tobacco and its products increase the risk of cancer, affirmed Dr Rabin Chakraborty, cardiologist and electrophysiologist consultant and his wife, Dr Arunadhati Chakraborty, clinical oncology and palliative care of Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata at a press conference held this evening at Apollo Gleneagles Information Centre at Kalyan Bhavan, opposite Police Outpost, Kwakeithel here.
Elaborately speaking on the problems faced by the cancer patients and prospects of the disease, Dr Rabin said, the Apollo Hospital, Kolkata has the latest equipments of 21st century for healthcare delivery to the people.
Cancer can be treated if detected at an early stage, he said.
The main causative agent of cancer is the consumption of tobacco.
So the best and easiest way to stay away from cancer is avoiding using this toxicant item.
Dr Arundhati, supplementing to the affirmation of Dr Rabin Chakraborty, said consumption of tobacco is prone to lungs cancer, mouth cancer
and throat cancer.
Breast cancer and uterus cancer are mostly found in women.
While explaining some of the syndroms of early detection of cancer, she said, if a man suffers from cold and cough for two weeks, urination with blood, excessive blood in menstruation, enlargement of mole on the body, appearance of lump in the breast and problems in throat at the time of eating, etc., then it could be symptoms of cancer.
