Imphal, June 07 2009:
One may think that the Manipuri culture is developing.
But lack of perseverance can lead to degradation of the culture, therefore the society must strive to foster its growth, said Education Minister L Jayentakumar.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on the Post Modernism in Literature organised by the Cultural Forum Manipur coinciding with the 51st anniversary of the Forum at JN Dance Academy, Imphal.
Jayentakumar further said that the people must nurture its culture and literature while hailing the efforts of the Cultural Forum in organising such crucial yet vital seminar.
The event was attended by the president of the Cultural Forum Manipur, Dr Ng Nabachandra as the president while the seminar was moderated by Prof N Khagendra and Prof Ch Manihar.
Delivering his presidential address, Dr Ng Nabachandra said that the Forum, since its inception before fifty years from now, has been striving to uplift and develop the culture of the state.
Though post-modernism in literature is not a new term, most of the people are not familiarised with the term, Dr Nabachandra observes.
He further said that there is some nervousness in teaching the subject itself.
