Chingai repoll peaceful, voter turnout on lower side

In the midst of heavy security cover the re-poll held in the nine polling stations under 45- Chingai Assembly Constituency was by and large peaceful with Ngainga polling stations registering the highest turnout of voters.
On Saturday, the re-poll in the nine Polling Stations under 45-Chingai AC, which was held after the Election Commission of India (ECI) had ordered for re-polling, was held under heavy security blanket with deployment of 93 companies of para-military forces.
According to official sources, the re-poll was conducted and completed on time without any untoward incidents.
In Ngainga (A and B), the voting turnout was pegged at 89.74 percent of the combined 1102 votes.
Somdal (AI, AII and B) had 66.55 percent polling of the total votes 2030, while Teinem (AI and AII) recorded 76 percent of the 1189 electorates.
The voting percentage in Ringui was 65.83 percent out of 1203 votes.
The report on Tora 45/51 could not be gauged till the filling of this report.
In today's polling, the voters were frisked and their identification checked thrice before allowing them entry inside the EVM booth.
"I have never seen the security like this in electoral history," said RS.Rathing, a sexagenarian from Somdal village.
In Tuinem pollings stations, the situation was supervised by Tuinem Shanao Long apart from the regular security personnel deployed.
Interestingly, the two polling stations in Ngainga-the home polling of NPF candidate Paul Muinao and three polling stations in Somdal-the birthplace of NSCN (IM) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah, had no polling agents other than NPF.
