Jiribam, February 11, 2010:
Even as the proscribed PRF has reacted sharply against Senior Citizens for Society's mediation plan in bringing a solution to insurgency, All Communities United Front (ACUF) has said that it would launch a campaign to gather views of the masses to resolve the decades long rebel movement in the State.
It was announced by its Secretary General L Mangal in a press conference held at Sagolband Tera Amudol today.
Addressing the media persons, he said that the general public have been facing various troubles in the past 43 years of insurgency in the State.
Human Rights violation has become the order of the day in the State with the bringing of black laws like AFSPA and deployment of large numbers of security forces.
Saying that rape cases of Chanu Rose, Ahanjaobi and Farida are still fresh in people's mind, L Mangal asserted that disappearance of Sanamacha and broad day light gunning down of Netaji were the major instances which testified gross violation of Human Rights by security forces in the State.
On the other hand, L Mangal added, kidnapping, demanding ransom, bomb attacks in crowded and residential areas have been annoying the general public since quite a long time.
Maintaining that mushrooming up of various UG groups have increased the monetary demands served to common people, the Secretary General urged upon all underground groups to unite in one single group.
Sensing all the inconvenience and trouble being faced by the people, the Front would start a campaign of gathering views/opinions from the general public to bring a solution to insurgency soon, Mangal added.
Expressing his opinion on Indo-Naga peace talks and Suspension of Operation inked between Kuki underground groups and Government, L Mangal said, Government must take up necessary measures not to violate the ground rules from the sides of both parties.
