In line with a new initiative of the Election Commission of India, the State Government is planning to convert electoral rolls of the State into a unique code system.
For this, the Chief Electoral Officer has convened a meeting of political parties and Deputy Commissioners on Feb 15. The electoral rolls converted into unique code system can be assessed in different languages.
Under the new initiative of the Election Commission of India, due process would be initiated after the joint meeting of political parties and DCs scheduled for February 15. Incompleteness and errors in electoral rolls such as spelling errors in names, absence of surnames, omission of mother's/father's names etc would be corrected during a door to door campaign from March 2 to 20.The correction process would be finalised before April 30 for publication of a corrected draft electoral roll.
