Imphal, February 11, 2010:
Leishan Tengnoupal village chief Thenkhomang Mate has once again sought attention of the Government towards the alleged excesses committed by KNA cadres upon innocent villagers blatantly violating SoO ground rules.
Addressing a press meet at New Checkon here this afternoon, the village chief decried that the brutal assault by KNA cadres on him and one Ngamkhai Mate at T Bongmol village on February 1 was a case of open human rights violation.
He appealed to the Government to prevail over KNA and remove their cadres from T Bongmol village.
The village chief said that he would approach SoO Joint Monitoring Group, DIG 26 Sector (Chandel) AR and IG AR (S) with written representations in case the State Government fails to take up some positive actions.
Thenkhomang Mate further reacted to the Kuki Chiefs Association Moreh's claim that the February 1 incident has been compromised saying that it was biased.
Asking when and where was the compromise made, Leishan village chief asserted that had there been any compromise meeting, it should have been attended by parents of the victims and representatives of civil society organisations.
