Imphal, February 11, 2010:
The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has conveyed best wishes to all Naga brethren on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival.
In its Lui-Ngai-Ni message issued by publicity secretary T Leisemba, the outfit stated Lui-Ngai-Ni festival not only elevate the social ethics and inspire a sense of oneness among Nagas but also spreads a message of love, unity, brotherhood and harmony among all indigenous people of the land.
It is a matter of pride as well as inspiration that all the traditional festivals of each ethnic group of Manipur have well-meaning significance, the outfit noted.
These festivals have deep-rooted essence of fostering building unity, consolidation of sense of brotherhood, upholding hill-valley relationship, promoting work culture and sharing solidarity during hard times.
It can be rightly said that the valour of the Manipuri people and their determination not to be outdone by any foreign power was nurtured and strengthened by these festivals which carry the inherent message to be disciplined, laborious and self-reliant.
If we study and understand the significance and underlying meanings of the several traditional festivals being celebrated by different ethnic groups, the Government of India would never succeed in driving any wedge among the people, the outfit asserted.
The recent trend of different ethnic groups joining other ethnic groups in celebrating their traditional festivals after shedding parochial feelings and ethno-centric perspectives can be termed beginning of the awakening of Manipuri people, the outfit remarked.
It prayed that the Lui-Ngai-Ni festival may give tremendous inspiration for unity and a healthy work culture not only among Naga brethren but also all the people of Manipur.
