Imphal, February 11, 2010:
Along with organising a day-long political conference of the National Congress Party (NCP) at the Shanglen of Ima Khunthokhanbi, DM College campus today, party president Radhabinod Koijam has called for electing suitable representatives to ensure good governance to the public.
Addressing the political conference hosted by NCP Thangmeiband Kendra Committee, Radhabinod observed that the present situation in Manipur is as good as sitting on burning fire.
This is not the right direction that the State should move, he said, adding that in order to save Manipur from further degradation, there is the need for collective understanding on the role that the public should play in this regard.
For restoration of peace and normalcy in the life of the people and push the State forward on the path of development, there is an urgent necessity for good governance.
This can be possible only when the public elect their representatives who love them sincerely and understand their problems thoroughly.
So instead of electing contractors and suppliers, the public should elect true leaders as their representatives, Radhabinod said.
Pointing out that a good and responsible Government is the one which understands the pulse of the people and takes up necessary measures to redress their grievances, Radhabinod added that the people of Manipur should go for such a responsible Government.
Party MLA Th Nandakishore maintained that Radhabinod can not be defeated by anybody in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.
He also called upon the people to give their mandate to the NCP for a stable Government in the State.
MLA Doukhomang Khongsai said that NCP has been closely monitoring the activities of the Congress led Government in the State and trying to install a better Government in its place.
At the occasion, Radhabinod also donated a sum of Rs 50,000 from his Local Area Development Fund towards the education support of 33 children affected with HIV/AIDS in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.
