Director of RIMS, Dr L Fimate today praised the Rotary Club of Imphal for donating a mortuary van to the RIMS Hospital, and expressed that it will alleviate the problems faced by the people in transporting dead bodies to their respective homes from the hospital.
In the trouble-torn state of Manipur, where death occurs almost daily, families of the deceased face difficulties in taking back the bodies to their homes.
Now, RIMS has its own mortuary van as the Rotary Club has formally handed it over to them.
This will solve the problems of hiring vehicles for transportation of dead body, at least to some extent, he said.
Dr Fimate was speaking as guest of honour at the inaugural function of the conference of the Rotary International District 3240 at the jubilee hall of the RIMS today.
President nominate, Kalyan Banerjee graced the function as the chief guest.
President of Imphal branch of the Club, Dr Chourajit and District Governor, Ajit Irom were also on the dais at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Kalyan Benerjee expressed hope that the Club will go on to serve the people with various welfare programmes.
The mortuary van was handed over to the RIMS authority by the president nominate, Kalyan Benerjee to the RIMS director.
