JAC threatens bandh on NH-39 over chairman killing

Imphal, January 13, 2011:
The JAC formed against the killing of chairman of BSEM, Dr N Kunjabihari, today warned that if the state government fulfills its demand by the deadline set, January 14, they will impose bandh on NH-39 which would be effective from 6.30 pm of the same day till 6.30 pm of January 16. A statement of the JAC said that if the state government meets the demand of the JAC by 6 pm of January 14, then they will impose the bandh effective from 6.30 pm.
Sit-in protest against the murder of the chairman was staged continued to carry out Kakwa by the residents as well as at board office complex, Bapupara by the staff of the board today also.
Protestors are demanding booking of the culprit(s) in the murder.
Meanwhile, condemnations to the murdered are pouring in the media house today also.
The Federation of College Teachers' Associations, Manipur while condemning the murder said that the federation is worried on thinking the future faith of the society where life of the people are at risk even at the highly secured places.
The Muslim Students' Union of Manipur expressing shock on the murder said that it is against the wishes of the people to kill a man who is working tirelessly for the upliftment of education in the state.
The Social Young Club, Kakwa Leipham Leikai, Students' Federation of India, Manipur State Council, All Manipur Secondary School Teachers' Association (AMSSTA), etc.
also strongly condemned the killing of Kunjabihari.
AMSSTA demanded government to take up measure to prevent recurrence of such incident in future.
The United Clubs' Organisation, Kakyai condemned the brutal killing of Chungkham Gambhir by unknown persons on the night of January 11.It also condemned the inhuman act of killing BSEM Chairman, N Kunjabihari on the same day.
