Kangleipakki Meira observes 29th Foundation Day

Kangleipakki Meira, a vernacular daily today observed its 29th Foundation Day at the Conference Hall of the Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul Imphal.
Awards to selected journalists were also distributed as part of the observation.
Sorensangbam Soniya of Poknapham won the Best Female Journalist's award.
Kshetri Meghajit of Naharolgi Thoudang bagged the Best Male Journalist's award.
Holendro Maibam of ISTV received the Best Journalist (Electronic) award.
Lairenlakpam Ashokumar was awarded Best Appreciated IPR.
The award of Best Columnist of Kangleipakki Meira was given to Nameirakpam Kullachandra.
Chirom Biren of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai was honoured with Best Hawker's award.
The function also felicitated Joint Editor, Kangleipakki Meira, Dhamen Wangkhemcha who won the State Journalist Award.
MLA Dr Ng Bijoy, Director Agriculture, L Palandro and Former Joint Director (News), AIR Imphal BB Sharma graced the function as chief guest and guests of honour.
President, All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU), Khogendra Khomdram who is also editor of Sangai Express Manipuri Edition presided over the function.
The chief guest, Dr Ng Bijoy spoke on the importance of the media in today's world.
Editor, Kangleipakki Meira, Wangkhemcha Shyamjai gave a brief history of the newspaper.
He pledged to report the truth to the public without any bias.
He also said that the newspaper is planning to print in multicolour from next year onwards.
Senior journalist, AK Sanaton praised Shaymjai's contribution in pressing the government to introduce pension schemes, medical reimbursements, travelling concessions for the media persons.
In his speech, Khogendra Khomdram said that AMWJU had repeatedly urged the state government to give medical reimbursements to media persons.
So far the government has not given any positive response.
Stating the inconveniences faced by media persons in the state, Khogendra appealed to the people of the state to support all media persons.
