Imphal, January 08:
Even though Manipur has been a dry State for more than ten years, the Election Commission of India is not taking any chances and has issued strict instructions that the three phase polling in the State should be Dry Days.
Towards this end, even canteens have been asked not to sell alcohol during the said period.
Talking to The Sangai Express an official source said that the ECI has made it very clear that canteens should not sell or supply alcohol during the days of the polling to avert unwanted incidents.
The instructions of the ECI have been conveyed to the State Election Department and the same have been conveyed to the authorities concerned.
On the other hand those who do not have their voter ID card have to produce either their ration card, bank pass book, driving license or the receipt book of the hill house tax.
