Demanding release of MSF volunteers being detained by police for the agitation undertaken by them to ensure regular class to the students of Government aided colleges following indefinite cease work strike launched by the aided college teachers, wakat meephams were staged today at different parts of Thoubal district.
Such wakat meephams were held at Wangoo Sandhangkhong Mayai Leikai by the local Meira Paibis and at Thoubal Wangmataba Parking.
The protesters hold many placards and banners which read as, "Release MSF volunteers", "Ensure education to aided college students", "We condemn application of NSA to students" etc.
Meanwhile, the Poirei Apunba Leimarol Meira Paibi, Imphal East, Loyalam Apunba Nupi Lup Khumbong and Meira Paibi Welfare Association, Kangleipak Maklang Bazar have urged the Government to settle the issue of aided colleges immediately.
While reiterating their demand to release the MSF volunteers being detained by police under NSA immediately without any condition, separate press statements issued by these different women bodies pledged all out support in any movement to affect the release of imprisoned MSF volunteers and to resolve the issue of aided colleges before the issue goes of out of hand.
