Atleast 20 well armed militant suspected to be Kuki National Army triggered widespread fear at Sielmat as they indiscriminately fired at various targets in the villages for about half an hour.
SP/CCpur incharge, Laxmi Prasad Chetri, CO 3rd IRB said that the armed men ransacked two houses in the village and various M-16 and AK series rifle rounds were discovered.
In order to apprehend the culprits BSF and IRB personnel assisted by the local police conduct a search operation about an hour after the incident at the adjoining Teisieng and Boljang village.
However, even at the time of filing this report, it was not known whether the security personnel apprehend any suspects from their operation.
As the firing started at around 11:30 am, most of the villagers were attending their Church service by the time and it is learnt that some of the churches had to bolt their church doors and disrupt their service besides laying on the ground in order to avert any disaster.
