The government of India has agreed to implement National Female Literacy Mission also called SAAKSHAR BHARAT scheme in four hill districts of Manipur namely Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong and Thoubal district in first phase.
The fund was allots base on the adults female illiterate population in the district covered under the programme.
Under this scheme as many as 14616 illiterate adults are to be benefit for Chandel district, 17297 illiterate adults for Senapati district, 11474 illiterate adults in Tamenglong and 34260 illiterate adults of the 2001 census are to be benefited in Thoubal district of Manipur.
This was stated by A Romio Singh, Programme Officer SLMA during one day Surveyors training at Tamenglong today, organised by District Literacy Samiti Tamenglong at ShekinuhInn here afternoon today.
The District Literacy Samiti Tamenglong under Department of Schools Education is to be identifying the 11474 illiterate adults in the Tamenglong district to impart functional literacy to nonliterate adults (Basic Literacy), enable the neoliterate adults to continue their learning beyond basic literacy and acquire equivalency to formal educational system (Basic Education).
Another main objective was to equip non and neo-literate adults with vocational skills to improve their living and earning conditions (Vocational Education) and establish a learning society by providing opportunities to neo-literate adults for continuing education (Continuing Education), he said.
While urging all Preeraks and surveyors of the District Literacy Samiti Tamenglong that while surveying to the remote interior villages spread the message female literacy mission was aimed to focus at empowerment of women and increased of female literacy to become a force multiplier to the effort of the government to give impetus to school education, health, nutrition, skill development for socio-economic development of the country, he said.
He also urged all the villages of Tamenglong district to give full cooperation to the surveyors of the District Literacy Samiti Tamenglong while they are surveying to get full benefit of the total literacy programme.
In the meantime, Dorendro Singh, Member Secretary of the District Literacy Samiti Tamenglong also spoke on the occasion.
He said that as many as 212 Surveyors has been appointed under District Literacy Samiti Tamenglong to identify numbers of illiterate and literacy and collects datas from every villages of the whole district.
As many as 56 Adult Education Centres has also been opened in four blocks of Tamenglong district.
According to the Surveyors reports the District Literacy Samiti Tamenglong under the department of School Education and Literacy is going to be open Basic Literacy Centres in the whole district to every eight learners, he said.
In all 56 Adult Education Centres in the whole of the district as many as 18 centres in Tamenglong block, 11 in Tamei Block, 14 in Nungba and 13 centres are in Tousem block.
Out of 212 Surveyors in the district 66 are in Tamenglong, 46 in Tamei, 52 in Nungba and 48 Surveyors are in Tousem block respectively.
In the meantime, the Gaisingong Riamei, General Secretary of t he JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO Tamenglong branch today appeal all state government employees not to attend their respective offices as a sign of discontentment to the state government for not implementing 6th Pay Commission to the state government employees.
