Imphal, May 02:
In continuation of its school inspection tour under the slogan "Come, Let's Rebuild Education", a team of KSO Ghqs today inspected the Government schools located within Saikot A/C of Churachandpur district.
During their inspection tour, it was found that the Rengkai High School, Gandhi Memorial High School, Kumbi Pukhri Junior High School and Tuibong Junior High School have considerable number of students and adequate strength of teachers.
However these schools have been enduring acute shortage of physical infrastructure such as school building, desks, benches etc.
But the Tuinom Khopi UJB School was found deserted.
At Rengkai High School, a total of 973 students are being accommodated in just 10 class rooms.
Despite the poor infrastructure, it is the best school in the town, claimed its Headmaster S Vanlalruala with pride.
Even after completion of the two storeyed building being constructed, the School will still face deficiency in infrastructure.
As such, the Headmaster had turned the proposal of the State Govt to upgrade Rengkai H/S to the level of a Hr Sec School, he informed.
The Gandhi Memorial H/S having a commendable record of producing many Ministers and bureaucratic officers is now constrained to admit only a limited number of students on account of its shortage of class rooms even as a large number of students come to the school seeking admission.
Its Headmistress Lhingnu Touthang informed that a few temporary class rooms have been constructed from the contribution of the staff and the local villagers besides arranging for more desks and benches.
Though it may sound bizarre, the KSO team observed that three separate classes were conducted simultaneously in a single room.
Even as all the Govt Schools in Churachandpur are functioning properly with considerable number of students and adequate number of teachers, these schools are being crippled by shortage of physical infrastructure such as school buildings, desks, benches etc on account of the Govt's indifference to the woes of the students and school authorities, asserted KSO president P Simte.
The KSO team also went to the office of the District Autonomous Council to meet the Chief Executive Officer but the CEO was found absent in the office.
Moreover, it was discovered that DI V Lemzuatham and Inspector T Kirankumar have not been attending their office for the last one month.
Yet, the ZEO office was found discharging its duties properly.
KSO vice-president Th Richard decried the absence of CEO and subordinate staff from their office.
Appealing to the authority concerned to take up necessary actions against these derelict officials, Richard urged all concern not to allow such irregularities any further in the district.
