Inspite of nearly six hours deliberations on various issue consensus eluded the SPF Legislature meeting tonight wherein the Meetei Mayek issue and underground outfits prohibiting kerosene quota of MLAs figured prominently besides adequately highlighting the KCP threat against MLAs in connection with the Meetei Mayek impasse.
Presided by the Chief Minister the meeting which began at around 5 pm and lasted till about 10 pm stressed on preventing community dissensions while promoting the Meetei Mayek.
Several legislators present at the meeting emphasised on cautious approach in solving the script issue as hasty decision are likely to evoke repercussion from certain section of the society.
Some MLAs, despite endorsing pledging support to Government initiative in developing Meetei Mayek, advocated either making the indigenous script an optional subject in school or continuance with English text books in Manipuri language.
Regarding the kerosene quota, suggestions were made to entrust concerned SPs with the task of supervising the essential commodity distribution taking note of underground diktats to fuel outlets against allocating the same to the MLAs.
