Seven activists of different armed organisations, including two of a little known Naga Nationalist Liberation Army (NNLA), were apprehended by personnel of Imphal West district police commandos, and personnel of Maratha Light Infantry and Assam Rifles from various places in the past 48 hours.
According to a statement by Imphal West Superintendent of Police Clay Khongsai an active member of the PULF organisation identified as Md Sikandar Ali alias Kakmu alias Kukin (21) s/o Md Abdul Kalam of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Boroi Makhong was arrested from Lilong Chajing Bazar at around 5.10 pm yesterday where the commandos were deployed based on specific information.
Sikandar is informed to have joined PULF last year under one Md Ithem alias Emran Laskar S/S deputy finance PULF and got basic training at Inem of Tamenglong district.
The two NNLA activists arrested by a combined team of the police commandos and personnel of MLI at around 11.40 am today from near the western end (Uripok) of BT Flyover have been identified as Raingam Shaiza alias Angam alias Wishfull (27) s/o Sundayson Shaiza of Saikhor and Wungpam Haoreiwung alias apam (20) s/o Paul of Chingai.
Saikhor and Chingai are in Ukhrul district.
Raingam is said to be outfit's general secretary.
In the other arrest today (2.25 pm) the police commandos nabbed one Ngangom Imoba Singh alias Premanda alias Tangbi (38) s/o Ng Mangi of Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai from Kwakeithel Bazar.
On interrogation, Imoba is said to have disclosed of being assigned to collect fund for the RPF/PLA from different departments.
Apart from informing that the PLA activist had collected Rs 80 lakhs, the SP said maintained that Imoba had handed over the said amount to one S/S Sgt N Nongpoknganba (32) of Koirou, Project Officer of RPF/PLA.
A Nokia handset with Aircel Sim card and Rs 22,000 were seized from Imoba's possession, it added.
Meanwhile, a statement of PRO IG AR (S) said troops of 34 AR apprehended two KYKL and a KCP activists from Wangjing yesterday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Laishram Manichandra (34) s/o Krishna Das of Wangjing Hudangde Mamang Leikai, Laishram Rakesh Singh (25) s/o L Ibopishak of Yairipok Bishnunaha Mayai Leikai and Ningthoujam Enoi Singh (20) s/o N Naba Kishana
of Heirok Part.
besides informing that one Bajaj Pulsar was recovered from them, the PRO statement also said all three have been handed over to Thoubal police station yesterday itself.
