Moreh, December 29: Bachelor�s Youth Welfare Association (BYWA) entered the semi final of the Pongal Cricket Tournament 2005-06 with a seven wicket win over Meitei Council Cricket Team (MCCT) at SRYC ground, here today.

Electing to bat first, BWYA were restricted to 148 for eight in the 30 over game with Perumal (31) and Hari (35) averting a virtual collapse.

Chasing the target, MCCT�s opening pair of Ibobi and Abung belted the opponent till the 16th over.

However, introduction of RK Das proved decisive claiming Ibobi (45).Das in tandem with Hari (3 wkts) wrecked the MCCT backbone sharing eight wickets between them.

The nail-biting match went to the full distance with MCCT requiring nine runs from the last over bowled by RK Das.

The destructive bowler sounded the death knell for MCCT cleaning off the tailenders conceding just two runs thereby ensuring the last four berth for BYWA.

RK Das (5 wkts) was named man of the match.
