The motor accident Claims Tribunal headed by its presiding officer Ph Surendra Singh has asked an insurance company to pay Rs 1,62,000 as compensation to parents of one Rani Devi who died in a motor mishap in 2003.The order was passed yesterday following a motor accident claim case filed by Ksh Suresh, his wife Leibaklokpi - parents of victim girl - of Thongju Awang Leikai.
Case dossiers said on November 11 at around 12.30 pm a passenger bus knocked down Rani Devi who later succumbed to injuries at JN Hospital the same day.
In its verdict the Tribunal asked the respondents to pay the compensation amount inclusive of the interim compensation of Rs 50,000 with interest at the rate of 6 percent per annum from the date of filing the case (Dec 29,2003) till the payment is made.
