Imphal, December 29:
Clearly peeved with the manner in which the State Government was kept in the dark when the suspension of operation agreement was reached between some Kuki armed groups and the Centre, Chief Minister O Ibobi today said that he would rather resign than function under the directives of the security forces.
Speaking at the birth anniversary function of Bir Tikendrajit at Lamshang today, the Chief Minister said that there are a number of details to be worked out to solve any armed movement.
Sitting across the table and talking things over with each other is a pre-requisite, he observed.
Taking strong exception over the manner in which the security forces entered into a suspension of operation agreement with some Kuki armed groups, the CMsaid that for any truce to be effective, it is necessary for the State Government to know their strength (number of cadres), their camps, their income etc.
However entering into an agreement without taking these parameters into consideration amounts to saying that the State Government should function under the security forces, said the Chief Minister.
