Champion side in the 47th CC meet football tournament Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei stormed into the last four stage of the competition�s 49th edition with a comfortable 3-0 win over NACO, Nambul Mapal at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today.
After N Uttam opened the score within five minute of the group Y game off a free kick that eluded a lunging Y Deepak under the NACO goal the Nambul Mapal side fortified their citadel and relied on counter-attacks to draw level which, however, eluded them.
As the result remained unchanged till the break, both sides made resumed the match with renewed zeal to upstage one another as SSU needed an outright win to insure its place in the semi finals while the Nambul Mapal outfit had to win to stay in contention for the same place.
Two top teams from each group would qualify for the semi finals.
Charan Rai broke the second half stalemate in the 83rd minute pounding home a rebound off NACO�s substitute goalkeeper Th Bishwarjit who parried a Tiken pile driver.
Capitalising on sloppy defence, Tiken himself rounded off the match with an injury time goal.
SSU, who had already defeated NEROCA 2-0 in its first quarter final league round encounter, is the first team to enter the semi finals.
Citizens� Club, Soibam Leikai will take on MPSC tomorrow.
Penalty price: The Disciplinary Committee of 49th CC Meet football tournament has decided to suspend TRAU�s S Sanatomba for two matches and imposed a fine total of Rs 4000 against the player and the Tiddim Road club as penalties for unsporting conduct of its players in the ongoing competition.
