Imphal, May 26: The Manipur boys and girls team secured berths in the pre-quarter finals of the 19th national Sub-junior Softball Championship being held at Chandigarh University despite mixed results in today�s matches.

While the boys reached the pre-quarter final with a convincing 13 runs victory over Gujarat and 0-0 tie against Gujarat to face Kerala in the last eight stages, the girls scampered to the pre-quarters despite losing to Chattisgarh by 4 runs based on its records in the earlier matches of the league phase.

Team officials conveyed that a member of the girls�s team Sougaijam Elinda had to be admitted to the nearby hospital for nose bleeding treatment caused by searing heat prevalent in the host State.
