Imphal, May 26:
Toeing the line of the central leaders, CPI State Legislator Party leader Ph Parijat said the Left parties would continue to extend support to the UPA government in the Centre as long as the Govt adheres to the contents of the Common Minimum Programme.
Parijat, who is also the Agriculture Minister iterated that Left parties did not attend UPAs celebration on completing one year in office in consonance with the ethics of extending only outside support to the Central Government.
The May 22 celebration of the UPA is also to celebrate developmental feats as claimed by the Government during its first year stint and in no way could the Left parties interpret the UPA feats as its own as the main agenda of aligning with the Central Government is to ensure implementation of the CMP, he said during an exclusive chat with The Sangai Express.
He further maintained that on account of the Left parties supporting the Government only from outside it has nothing to do with the activities or performance of the Dr Manmohan Singh led-Govt despite being invited to join the celebration.
Replying to a question on stability of the UPA Government, the Minister merely reiterated that withdrawing support to the Centre is immaterial as long as the Central Government sincerely executes development programmes within the parameters of the CMP.
