A high level meeting presided by the Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh and attended by Commissioners, Secretaries and HoDs of 27 Departments was held at the Secretariat South Block today to ascertain the veracity of the documents of 1120 adhoc employees employed in the various Depts under the State Govt.The total number of adhoc employees working in the various Depts under the State Govt is 1120 with 2 adhoc employees in the Tribal Development, 4 (Environment and Ecology Wing), 4 (Arts and Culture), 4 (Agriculture), 1 (Forest), 1 (Social Welfare Dept), 11 (Fishery), 17 (Education-U), 13 (Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dept), 9 (CADA), 23 (FCS), 25 (SCERT), 27 (Technical Education), 22 (Horticulture and Soil Conservation Dept), 27 (Commerce and Industries Dept), 5 (Youth Affairs and Sports), 2 (Health), 2 (Adult Education), 3 (Works Dept), 51 (Power Dept), 3 (State Revenue Dept), 23 (Family Welfare Dept), 4 (PHED), 625 (Education S) and another 180 adhoc employees being appointed by issuing an order under the term "extended until further orders".
According to a reliable source, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh during the meeting instructed all the HoDs to conduct a probe on the particulars of all the adhoc employees who have been appointed under the term "Extended until further orders" and submit a report on the matter within 4 pm today.
The Chief Secretary also informed that stern actions would be initiated against all the guilty officials if any of the adhoc employees were found to have been appointed through the back door.
Jarnail Singh also asked the members present at the meeting to identify the excess adhoc employees and subsequently remove them to keep in tune with the State Govt's policy of removing all Adhoc employees from the Depts of the State Govt.Efforts are on to conduct open recruitment to induct qualified persons in the vacant posts of the State Govt, added the CS.
Reports said that all the HoDs have been instructed to submit a report on the number of vacant posts in their respective Depts to the State Govt.
