The State Govt is likely to discuss and take a final decision within this month on the several changes that have been put forward by the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) regarding the construction of the proposed "Cultural Convention Centre" at Palace Compound.
NBCC which had been entrusted with the task of constructing the centre has not only brought about various changes in the blue print of the proposed centre but has also revised the estimated cost of the Cultural Convention Centre.
It may be noted here that the Ministry of Urban Development Govt of India had agreed to sanction Rs 13 crores as grant for the construction of the Cultural Convention Project.
According to reports received by the press, the construction of the proposed Cultural Convention Centre have not materialised due to the unsound financial conditions of the State Govt and the prevailing law and order situation and further stated that differences between the NBCC officials and the State Govt on the architectural design included in the project proposal has further delayed its implementation.
Reports also said that the State Govt had sent the project proposal to the Union Ministry of Urban Development and the NBCC authorities 13 times.
NBCC had also sent a blue print of the project with several changes in reply to the project proposal submitted by the State Govt recently, said the report adding that the blue print included the development of Hatta Kangjeibung in its work programme.
Informing that the revised estimated cost sent by the NBCC authorities to the State Govt is Rs 2408.94 crores, reports said that the Union Ministry of Urban Development had already informed the State Govt that it would provide the necessary funds for the revised estimated cost.
