Imphal, December 02: Following the order issued by the Gauhati High Court (Ng Keike Gangmei and others Vs the State of Manipur and others), the State Govt has decided to withdraw the Eviction Case number 4 in respect of Tharon village, Imphal West.

An order to this effect was issued today, dated November 30.Meanwhile, Zeliangrong United Clubs' Assn Manipur Valley (ZUCAM-V) has appealed to the Govt to revoke its decision to evict the.

villagers of Tharon.

In a statement, ZUCAMV president Meibon Phaomei said that question of encroachment into the Langol Reserved Forest area does not arise as the villagers had been made to settle at the Langol foothills by the Kings after the Chahi Taret Khutakpa in service of the State much before the Langol came under the status of protected area.
