The Union has also expressed its gratitude for inclusion of Manipur University in their itinerary in order to have a first hand account of the development works now in progress at its campus.
The memorandum submitted to the MPs urge for various points including shifting of AR camp from the premises of MU, development of Canchipur hill into a historical monument, development of sports infrastructures within the pre mises of the University, provision for modern equipment and tools for scientific research, appointment of vacant and necessary posts in MU, institution of more centres of study/Departments to keep pace with the changing time and needs, facilities for uninterrupted internet connection and restoration and development of Chandranadi river that flows across the MU campus.
Concerning the presence of AR camp within the premises of the University, it asserted that students have been at the receiving ends for many a great undue harassment and uncalled for intimidation.
It also maintained that MUSU have no grudge against security force but the conspicuous presence of paramilitary forces within this highest centre of learning violates the sanctity of the centre and caused serious disturbance to all kinds of academic pursuit and research works.
Moreover the campsite was once the palace of Manipur which has a very strong emotional attachment and historical relevancy regarding the people of the State.
