Reaffirming the bonding among the native people living in Manipur since time immemorial, gifts were exchanged today on the third day of the 3rd Fellowship Meet, 2006 of Aimol Baptist Association which is being held at Aimol Tampak in Chandel district since February 2.Leaders of various social organisations who were present at the occasion exchanged gifts with the Aimol Baptist Association.
World woman boxing champion Padmashree MC Mary Kom, NIPCO president Chirom Rajketan and public leaders of Kom Rem and other communities were among those who were present at the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Aimol Students' Union president Kh Okhup Aimol said Aimol community has close relationship and cannot be dissociated from Kom, Koren, Chiru, Purum and Kharam people.
In her address, Mary Kom exhorted Aimol youths to take up sports and assured all possible assistance from her side in this regard.
She also presented cash prizes from her own pockets to the winners of the Bible recitation competition conducted to mark the occasion.
Ch Rajketan told that gathering that NIPCO had been formed with the sole purpose of protecting the identities and culture of the ethnic groups settling in Manipur.
