Even as Chandel district Deputy Commissioner Norbert Disinang assured to review circumstances leading to suspension of passenger bus services agitation sponsored by Indo-Burma- Sugnu Road Drivers� Association�s president O Babudhon has threatened to prolong the stir till its demand is addressed at the earliest.
On the other hand, Chandel Naga people�s Organisation terming the agitation of the drivers� body as genuine pledged support to the cause.
Mention may be made that the transport body decrying deplorable road condition in between Pallel to Chandel district headquarters had refrained from taking the wheels since yesterday.
Taking note of the drivers� complaint and inconveniences faced by the commuters, Norbert said all efforts would be made in addressing the problems.
He also described the matter as �hottest� issue in the entire Chandel district and conveyed on his relentless commitment towards solving the impasse.
Flaying the State Government�s inability to repair the badly damaged road section the driver�s association president Babudhon affirmed of the driver community not to budge from the current posture till demand for improvement of the important route is taken up without further delay.
The agitation will continue till the Government initiate appropriate measure, he added.
Meanwhile, the CNPO in a press statement charged the State authority for putting the Chandel people in perilous position while demanding immediate action from authority concerned.
The CNPO also conveyed condolence at the demise of RD Chumnal Anal who passed away on September 10 at Mumbai.
NSUC resolutions: Election of office bearers, demand for repairing Pallel-Chandel district headquarters and insistence for a ministerial berth to the district�s representative marked the general assembly of Naga Students� Union, Chandel held at Kapaam village yesterday.
The session held under the chairmanship of pro-tem speaker Sh Chungkhulen approved nomination of Pilbung James as vice president of the student body�s executive council.
Five post of the union were laying vacant till yesterday�s nominations.
The assembly appreciating DC Norbert Disinang�s efforts towards improvement of the Pallel-Chandel Hqs road stretch accused PWD Chief Engineer of total negligence on the matter.
It also demanded presence of Executive Engineer concerned at the district headquarters rather than function from Imphal.
