Imphal, September 13:
With past instances of unidentified miscreants trying to set on fire the office of the SDC at Porompat, all the computers and other machines used for issuing computerised pattas and other land records to the people have been shifted to the office of Imphal East DC.
According to a reliable source, the said machines have been shifted for security reason on the basis of the police reports that unidentified miscreants had targeted the said office building during the agitation against killing of Manorama and implementation of the Meetei Mayek.
The source, however, hastened to add that even if the computers and the machines were burnt down, the computerised land records would remain intact as the datas have been stored after CD recording.
Informing that most of the officials of Revenue Dept were in favour of computerising the land records, the source said that this would automatically solve all the earlier problems arising out of doctoring the land documents.
Efforts are also on to restore the land records kept in the Sawombung SDC office which have been destroyed in a devastating fire during the height of the Mayek agitation, the source added.
The computerisation of the land records of Imphal East District including that of Jiribam Sub-Division has been completed, the source informed.
As for the Imphal West District, the SDC (Central) has completed the task for only 27 villages, the source added.
For Churachandpur dist, all the land records have been computerised after conducting a proper survey while 50 percent of the work has been completed for Thoubal dist.
However, for Bishnupur dist, the task has been completed only for Moirang sub-division so far, the source disclosed.
Road woes: The Kambang Khunou Village Authority/Court, Chandel district call upon the State Govt for immediate repairing of road stretch in between Kambang Khunou and Kharou Khullen which had been neglected for nearly a month since a massive landslide on August 13.The landslide severing surface link between Rilram Chingshang village causes enormous hardship to villagers in producing essential items as plying of motor vehicles (buses) on this route seems unlikely till the damaged road section is repaired, said a press release of the village body.
It further contended that rice under Anna Purna scheme had not been distributed to the villagers settled around Kambang Khunou for the current year.
The rice distribution had not been made since the last distribution in 2004 at Tuishimi village, maintained the village authority.
