One of the three jawans injured in a bomb attack launched by the proscribed PLA near Langmeidong yesterday succumbed to his injuries at Leimakhong Army hospital yesterday itself.
The deceased hailed from Nagaland.
The incident occurred when a column of 16 Assam Rifles under the 57 Mountain Division were attacked by PLA cadres.
Meanwhile armed persons suspected to be cadres of an underground group allegedly shot a youth at Pukhao area at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
The youth identified as Koijam Subhas (30) s/o late K Ibopishak of Pukhao Naharup sustained injuries on his right shoulder and was hospitalised at the casualty ward of RIMS Hospital.
According to information received by the press, Subhas was returning home along with three other persons when the armed persons shot at him.
Some minutes before the shooting incident, some armed persons who were suspected to be underground cadres also allegedly fired several rounds at the residence of one Keisham Nabachandra of Pukhao Ahallup last night.
Nabachandra informed that the armed persons numbering around 15 of them at first demanded the gate to be opened but later climbed atop the first floor of his house which is being under construction with the help of the telephone post erected next to his house.
