Imphal, October 16:
Two personnel belonging to III IRB who deserted their camp along with arms were apprehended by Lamlai Police from Chalou last night at around 8, said sources.
The two IRB men have been identified as Mongjam Binod Kumar alias Boi (21) of Nongada Makha Leikai and Thingbaijam Suranjoy (21) of Irom Meijrao.
The duo who came on a motor cycle (Hero Honda MN 06/7682) were arrested by Lamlai police at Chalou after a Sten Carbine and 30 live bullets were recovered from Binod while frisking.
Sources further said that Binokumar is a driver of the III IRB and posted at Bijang in Churachandpur Dist.
He was transferred to Imphal very recently to due to current fragile situation.
The Sten carbine which was recovered from Binod belonged to a havildar, added the source.
Suranjoy who was arrested along with Binodkumar belonged to III IRB and was employed at the Mess section.
Strong action is being taken up against the duo by the authorities concerned.
