Police have established that the fake Rs 500 denomination notes recovered from one Athur Ramther (40) on October 13 originated from Myanmar and were printed with the latest technology.
Displaying the seized notes totaling Rs 50,000, Imphal East district SP Anish Dayal differentiated the fake from the genuine ones while informing the public to avoid Rs 500 notes bearing serial nos 6AC or those without the letter 'B' on the background of the serial nos.While security mark on genuine notes are placed a little away from the denomination numbering on the currency the same on fake ones lie close to the number 500, the SP explained.
Athur Ramther of Soder village in Ukhrul district was arrested from Tangkhul Avenue and has been sent to jail added the SP.
Heroin seized: Sleuths of Imphal East District Drug Cell arrested a man and seized one Kg of Heroin along with a 9 mm pistol at Andro Parking this afternoon, said sources.
The arrested man has been identified as one Sapam Ibomcha (37) of Terapishak.
