Chandel, September 14: Village chiefs and public leaders of Chandel district have submitted a joint memorandum to the Chief Secretary conveying the district people�s profound gratitude to the Government for sanctioning �sufficient� amount for construction/repairing of Pallel-Chandel, Chandel-Chakpikarong, Chakpikarong-Joupi and Chandel-T Minou via Vomku roads.

Submitting the representation the village chiefs and public leaders urged the Chief Secretary for all possible efforts to allot the said works to the BRTF instead of local contractors.

Doubts on the local contractor�s ability to execute the tasks upto public satisfaction has been cited by the chiefs and public leaders for preferring BRTF.

The memorandum was jointly submitted by representatives of Maha Area Chiefs� Association, Anal Naga Taangpi, Anal Lenruwl Taangpi and Bolnidam Village Authority.

Meanwhile, Chandel DC Norbert Disinang has distributed ex-gratia amount (cheque) of Rs 1 lakh each to family members of H Dhananjoy Singh of Chingarel and L Jiten Singh of Uyumpok who laid down their lives fighting militants on July 26, 2003.Both were civilians.
