Imphal, September 14: A combined team of District police of Imphal East and West has arrested an activist of the proscribed KCP during a cordon and search operation at Ningomthong area based on a specific information at around 5.30 am today.

The arrested activist is identified as Shamurailakpam Shanta Sharma alias Surjit (27) s/o late Sh Chaoba Sharma of Ningomthong Bazar.

On preliminary interrogation, the arrestee disclosed that he joined the outfit in September 1997 through one self styled lance corporal Tengbangba and trained at Chingnu, Myanmar in March 1998 under one self style sergeant Purel of Samungou under army no, 789 of 14th batch of KCP, according to a statement issued by SP Imphal East L Kailun today.

Thoubal district commandos have nabbed two more KCP cadres from Kakching Uchal Houbi at around 4.30 am today.

The arrested cadres are identified as Khumukcham Shyam Meitei alias Nanao (23) of Kakching Khunou and Sarungbam Ibomcha Meetei (24) of Wangoo.

Some incriminating documents have also been recovered from the arrested duo.
