One killed in car crash

Imphal, May 20: A 31 year old man was killed and another seriously injured when the Maruti Zen (MN 05 A-0942) they were travelling in nose dived into a ditch that had been dug up for repairing a culvert on the Tiddim road at Takhellambam Leikai last midnight, said sources.

The victim has been identified as Salam Sanjoy (31) of Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai while the injured has been identified as Haobam Jiten (35) of Chingamakha Irom Leirak.

Sources said that the accident occurred when the Maruti Zen which was coming towards Keishampat from Kwakeithel side smashed through the bamboo railings put around the ditch and crashed into the ditch.

Both the injured persons were immediately rushed to RIMS by the locals who rushed out.

However, Sanjoy failed to respond to medical treatment and passed away this morning at around 2.15.The other injured person who was injured in the accident is presently undergoing treatment.
